My 2011 Resolution

I've never set any resolution before. I feel that things that'll come, will eventually come. Things that'll leave, will leave anyway. That's why, I live by my motto "live today, hope for tomorrow". However in 2010, I've been through quite a big change in my life, which suddenly makes me feel that I'm not my old me any more. I've more responsibility, I've "grown up".

I gave birth to my angel daughter, now I'm a mom. I struggled for quite a long time to breastfeed my daughter, which, with determination, I've succeed. I've been through toughest challenge in my career, often work through midnights. Surprisingly I've got a promotion that I never expect. All this which makes me think that I'm ready to "grow up".

And therefore, I've set my 2011, with great hope to achieve something by year end.

Europe Day 2 - London at Night

London at night has as much things to explore as london in the day. I guess I have to live in London to fully explore them.

"London Bridge is falling down.. falling down.. falling down... " well the actual name is tower bridge

Extremely modern office blocks, fully light up at night, with no blinds! definately not the style in KL.

Big Ben again, we pass by them every day and night :)

Europe Day 2 - Walking in London

Woke up to a sunny morning today! perfect for our planned itenary. we are going to walk london today, whole day.

no kidding, we can see the famous London Big Ben and palace of westminister outside of the hotel :) the sky is so blue

Close up at the Big Ben - It's 9.40am :) The finishing is very fine, but why it represents London, of all the other fine architecture? according to wikipedia, it's because of the time accuracy

whole london is full of london bus. We ride on one of them too. wonder which one got david beckham on board like in beijing olympic

london underground signage is sharp and obvious

Beesuan tip me that in london, when there's sunshine, everyone will go out for sun bath. i didnt know it is up to this extend - there's bench for rent at St James park, all facing the sun :)

buckingham palace- but no guard changing ceremony :( my schedule is tight, so i can just see it from tv documentary already. luckily there's another mini guard changing ceremony at the side door, at least seen something - not really grand, and the guards move, smile, look at the tourist also.

Europe Day 1 - Touch Down in Stanstead, London

Taiwan travel blog stopped at first night, hopefully my Europe blog manage to progress further. (^.^)

Yes, airasia X we took. Seat comfortable? ya, pretty much the same like other long-haul airline's aircraft. Got entertainment? ya, pay RM30 to the stewardess :p. How many hours? 13 long hours, luckily non-stop, sometimes speeding (airasia is known to speed in the air). How about food? I pre-purchased it. RM38 one set, they serve 2 meals, one after flight took off, another 3 hours before landing.

So, how much's the ticket? ~RM 3300 for 2, inclusive tax,meal, insurance and choose seating

Wah, so cheap - what's the catch?

water - so expensive on board! advice is to buy or fill in departure hall, if available. wait until you pass bag scan counter

choose seating - Xtra leg room is tourist trap, the seats are all in front of toilets. a lot of people will be disturbing you. normal seats will do, even soowei feel ok with the seat width & length.

bags - at stanstead, they really weigh your bag, even the one that u bring on board - limit 7kg. if overweight, they forced you to check in and pay 6 pounds.

insurance - i shouldn't have purchase it, because my credit card give free travel insurance :P

First thing to do after enter room ------- throw away the bags!

Do you also have the habit of taking hotel toilet photo?

We took off at KLIA 10am, after 13 hours, we reached stanstead at 4.30pm (it's supposed to be 11.30pm already), felt dizzy & tired, yet excited.

it took us quite sometime to reach our hotel, Riverbank Park Plaza, we are too tired to explore the night, so we settled down in the room and doozed to sleep, at 11.30pm (been awake for 21 hours, zzzzz)

p/s - I automatically wake up at 3am, then convince my body to sleep again

How I Make Soya Bean with Cheap Blender

This is how soya bean looked like, kind of sphere in shape. I measure a mini bowl (size like add small rice at Tai Tung) full of it for 2 to 3 big cup of soya bean milk.

Put in a big bowl and soak with water for 6 hours or more. Don't soak more than 24 hours though.... The beans will grow..

This is how my soya bean looked like after 8 hours of water spa ^.^ It doubled in size horizontally, so it is now oval in shape. Photo above taken in the same mini bowl just for your eye's comparison, I have to use a normal sized bowl to measure and pour into my blender.

To start, I add 1 part of water to 1 part of soya bean to be blended at highest speed possible, for about... 2 min to 3 min. Too much water added at early stage will make the blending less efficient ~ cheap blender mah.. After that, add 2 more part of water into blender to let the water and milk mix well, blend for 30s or so..

The product consists of 2/3 raw soya bean milk and 1/3 of bubble. It's now ready to cook!

Cook at medium low flame. Dont go away from your pot. It'll go from this much

to this much at speed of F1 racing car!!!

Ok ok immediately turn to low flame and cook for ~1min.. with lid open. While doing so, stir occasionally and take out the pulp on top.

In the mean time, I've prepare my mug with some honey ;)

And finally, after soya beam milk is cooked enough, serve! (^.^)

Taiwan Nature Tour & Scenic Drive - Day 1

Shilin Night Market, Taipei - famous fried chicken

Alright, this should be my last trip of Y2007 - Taiwan. Kind of last minute planned (normally my flight ticket booked btw 6mths to 1 year, this is <3mths).After check-in to Huai Ning hotel , we're left with "pasar malam" to visit only. Where else if not the famous tourist spot Shilin Market?

We tried food & drink:-

-fried chicken chop (see pic) , the outside is quite crunchy :)

- big intestines wrap small intestines (大肠包小肠）, don't worry it's taiwanese sausage wrapped in Glutinous rice also in the shape of sausage , very filling. Wasabi flavour is nice.

-frog lay egg (青蛙下蛋）, it's a drink like malaysian teh tarik with little herbal jelly balls

-The yellow tower (黄色巨塔) , barbeque potato, taste like potato chips

-Love jade ice (爱玉冰), a yellowish herbal jelly drink, the taste's pretty plain

-Fried oyster, not nice.....

Went to bed at 2am... tomorrow we'll start to drive around Taiwan. Taiwan is left hand drive, heard the traffic is bad in taipei town.... well.. have to struggle our way out of Taipei liao.......

Putrajaya Fireworks 2007

Been to watch fireworks competition 2007 in Putrajaya. I really like fireworks, but quite tired of the crowd. Thanks to my photography fan neighbour and best friend Mr & Mrs O, me & soowei managed to take a lift to crowded Putrajaya for the show :)

This one looked like a couple of lover bird :). Notice the blue line? It's a moving cruise boat, how nice if i can watch from there.
This night is Italy's show, pretty impressive! I've never watch fireworks for continuous 1/2 hour, plus a little test shot in the beggining of the show, total of maybe 40 min.

We found that photos taken from our camera a bit blur....... time to change.

So colourful, you guess well that this is the final shot. After this, we were stuck in traffic for 2 hours, reach home after 3 hours (i guess).... we turn to KLIA and back... haha..

Been to Langkawi for work recently. Yea yea yea... sounds like fun but actually don't really feel relax, coz the only free time is after working hours. So I can juz share with you some sunset pics. What kind of plant do u expect to see by the beach? Coconut tree? OUTDATED already. This tree by the beach side drops flower so beautiful it takes my breath away.

The other day, I was at the other side of the Island, so the sun set into hill instead of beach.Feels like sunrise. Don't know why I think sun should rise from hill and set into sea. haha..... who has the same feeling with me?

Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is one of the "Seven Forgotten Wonders of the Medeival Mind" (w.. wat wonder is that..?!...) It is one of the most fun travel destination I've ever been. Highly recommended. But before you go, try to catch documentary of Angkor Wat from Discovery Channel, it will increase your interest of this destination by 10 fold!

Bayon

To go there, take flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. The town is small, try to stay close to old market area, then basically you can wander around the town yourself at night. Pretty safe and clean. In the morning, engage with your hotel or travel agent to go for ancient city adventure ;-) The entrance fee/pass would be USD20 for 1 day, USD40 for 3days and USD60 for 1 week.

Oh yea.. few years ago when i plan to visit angkor, lots of worried voices regarding safety, land mines, lodging, food etc etc were thrown over us. But it turned out to be a tourist destination more organised than KL, i think.

Ta Prohm

This is also where one of Lara Croft movie scene was shoot. Vacation here is like going back to kids time where you can play hide and seek, climb up and down, explore here and there. It's just full of fun.

Mulu Caves, Miri Beach and Brunei Mosque

Mulu Caves

There's long weekend during Labour day, so we've decided to travel oversea again... erm, well ok this year is Visit Malaysia Year, so why not to Sarawak Mulu Caves ;-) It's still over-sea ^.^

We travel for 2 hours by airasia from LCCT Sepang to Miri airport, then take another 1/2 hour flight from Miri airport by Fly Asian Xpress to Mulu airport. We spent 4 leisure days in Gunung Mulu National Park. The caves in Mulu, I can say, no camera can capture the magnificient of it. You just have to be there to feel the power of mother nature!

Back to Miri, had a great meal of seafood lunch by the beach and had a great time watching locals flying kite and beach fishing :) and of course, can't miss the sunset!

Bander Sri Begawan's Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque

On the last day, we pay a little visit to little rich neighbour Brunei. Nothing much to do, except to admire the richly constructed mosque, and start to think how good if i'm a magician who can disappear the mosque dome (that's made of 100% gold) and move it back to KL :P

First Trip to Vietnam

Halong Bay

Every year me and soowei will embark trip(s) to oversea(s) (the oversea 's' is a wish). The objective, is just to paint our world map from grey to blue in http://www.virtualtourist.com/.

Vietnam Kampung Girl

We began this year, excluding home trip to Sabah, to Vietnam. The city is capitol of Vietnam, but according to locals Ho Chi Minh City is more modern. Anyway, you can expect loads of culture shock here. The highlight is Halong Bay, one of Vietnam's world heritage site, because of its exceptional beauty. We stayed a night on a traditional chinese junk, in the heart of halong bay - an experience can't find elsewhere :)

Anyway, 5 days is simply not enough for hanoi & surroundings, we'll be back!

Car Accident

Front and back of my wira in it's worst condition, one and only transport for both me and soowei.It happened not in same day, but when i looked into their photos together, I feel pity for my baby (wife for a friend of mine). I should've care for her more...

It's a bad example --- drive safe!

p/s: front part cost rm1600 own repair, rm170 repair for other, rm200 for police; back part cost rm100 for orginal part.

Dinner at Home

It's minced meat with potato, and braised shitake musroom with choy sam sprinkled with deep fried onion and anchovies, eating with steam hot AAAAA grade frangrance rice, plus a can of beer for him, a can of 100+ for me.... pity no time to boil soup, but that's ok. It's already a very good meal after a hard day's work at office, and long taxing journey from KL sentral to Putra Heights.

Yummy..... hopefully next time soowei can cook complete with soup ... ;)

Train Train Train

Almost a week working in Plaza Sentral, central of all train routes. Should try out the public transports, right!

To work is good, even got place to sit. On way back home - was such a night mare for the first time. Most ppl wanted to take the first train home after work, i guess, and so the train was all crowded. I'm lucky to have a small size body to be able to squeeze in a space of less than 10cmx20cm by the door before it closed. But i was unable to see which station i've reach.. and haha... i got off 1 station earlier than subang jaya... sigh.... the train operator announced with his squeeky voice"s..a.. j.. ya..." and the moment i swing my head to out side the window i saw a sign board "S.... Jaya" passed by so fast.

That station was Setia Jaya.. sigh... why KL like to reuse names. if not ending with 'jaya' then will begin with 'putra', i used to get lost while hearing the name 'pandan xx' or 'xx pandan', seems like 'pandan' already and old name...

Today is My Last Day

To Sunway Annexe,

5 years ago, you've already looked old, however you were happening and crowded with loads of youngsters. Today you're even older, quite frequently caught flu (power failure) and fever (air cond down). most youngsters have left, remainings turned to old folks, still loyally serving the company (i'm one of them :p)

Today, is the last day the office will serve us. feel a little sad, coz we've so much stories here. we've farewell our makan places around you since 2 weeks ago, much laughters we had over the dining table :) such nice memories.

New chapter will begin in Plaza Sentral. Good luck to you - beloved Sunway Annexe!

Honeymoon the way I like, is just to relax... We've choose to hide in a golf resort in Borneo Highlands, Kuching. There's no TV, no phone, no people... Feels like We've booked the whole resort. :)

What we can do there?

Climb the mountain - That's Kalimantan!

And of course, enjoy ourself in the nature

My id had always been my name... until one night, one guy had got me changed it. No, it wasn't soowei. :p...

Haha... mihunkuay was my password back then. it was revealed to a guy helping to fix my computer problem, that's all.

Shortly after i created a yahoo mail. Don't know how many "tan bee koon"sss out there in the world had used the id of various combination of my name... well, i got a bit p-off & jokingly register the password as username..... since it's already disclosed... Great, i got stucked to the question "why mihunkuay" for the rest of my life

THE Day of My Life

8.00am. Oct 7th, 2006. I woke up, feeling fresh. A little less excited, compare to my mom, who's busy preparing food for my 'zhi mui' and later on soowei's 'hengdai'. But I'm very happy, coz today is the day i'm getting married.

9.00am. Oct 7th, 2006. All dressed up! Zhi mui already arrived. Hmm... what time the guys will arrive? My zhi mui has prepared something for them (*.*)

10.00am. Oct 7th, 2006. Soowei arrived with hengdai I knew for years as well. Especially Kok Leong where initially he agreed to become my zhi mui, but later turn his back and become best man...

11.00am. Oct 7th, 2006. There are too many photos to show, on how 'adventure' the guys went thru to get me out of the room. My mom kept saying 'enuf! enuf! don't bully them' and my cousin sister, who's the mastermind, replied 'they'll bully your daughter!' haha...

My cousin already went thru the games night before, with me, causing my panda eyes in the morning. It isn't hard after all. :P

11.10am. Oct 7th, 2006. Off we go, in brand new BMW 5 series. i don't know what model is that, but they say it costs >rm500k... phew! sell my new house also unable to buy the engine. Where these rich ppl earn their money?

Say goodbye! for this chapter. Will the story of prince and princess ends with happily ever after? If there's a will, there's a way....
